BEGECA was established as a legally independent
private limited company in 1968, superseding MISEREOR's former purchasing
department. Since we must remain committed to the social, pastoral
and non-profit goals of our shareholders, BEGECA's articles of incorporation
preclude all forms of profit-making. We may only operate on behalf
of non-commercial institutions and partners.
BEGECA's shareholders are:

BEGECA is also linked through framework agreements to the German
Development Service (DED) and the German Academic Exchange Service
(DAAD).
To recover our costs, in return for our services we charge a percentage
of the amount billed for goods and carriage.
Since we have no funds of our own, we are unfortunately unable to
support projects either financially or by supplying materials and
equipment.
In the almost 35 years since it was founded, BEGECA has procured
and shipped goods worth approximately € 400 million. Our mean
annual turnover is currently around € 12 million.
BEGECA's
Head Office in Aachen currently employs a workforce of 20. Please
refer to our organisation chart for information on our
organisational structures.
